Reel: Clips taken from work commissioned by Traditional Arts Indiana and Indiana Arts Commission. The reel ends with a micro-documentary (under 3 minutes) about community, tradition, and the importance of craft in the local car hopping world.

For the Recently Incarcerated: Change a Life, Donate to Blue Jacket
The change pins were distributed to raise awareness for an early clothing drive for Blue Jacket, a non-profit that assists the formerly incarcerated after release. I developed the concept and transformed over 300 paper clips into clothes hanger pins (by hand). Change a Life…Donate to Blue Jacket. The pins were given to prospective donors when Blue Jacket launched their clothing store roughly ten years ago. I developed the idea after perceptions of me changed for the better while wearing a profesional jacket purchased at an early version of the clothing store.

A friendship led to relationships with the local Burmese refurgee community, and the nonprofit that directly worked with them, the former Burmese Advocacy Center. I photographed everything from weddings, to education and vocational classes, to water festivals. Because of my work, I had the opportunity to photograph the community for USA Today.
The Infant Mortality Epidemic
When I was the Ink Spot Newspaper editor, I priortized, among other issues, informing our readers about our infant mortality rate struggles in our poorest zip codes. I always found new ways to bring awareness, involving (for example) using illustration to complement a story and a poster that was distributed across the community.
Criminal Justice Reform Stories
Another priority during my time as Ink Spot editor were stories about criminal justice reform. I spent four years in the Criminal Justice/Criminalogy program at Ball State Univerity; I still have my minor. Criminal Justice reform has always been a strong interest of mine, and it carried over into my work as Ink Spot editor. I regularly published stories on the issue, including interviews with residents who’ve been impacted by the system. I partnered again with Blue Jacket, who sponsored the art for this full-page comic book printed in a dedicated All-Illustration issue of the paper in 2019.
